IFR SIMULATOR
An IFR simulator in your pocket
Simulator assessments mainly check your instrument scan and situational awareness. Prépa Cockpit lets you fly the basic IFR exercises on a PFD with HSI and RMI, with or without wind, so you can build those reflexes at home.
The exercises
VOR intercept
Intercept a VOR radial inbound or outbound and hold it.
NDB intercept
Intercept a QDM or QDR using the RMI only.
Station passage
Track to a beacon, then intercept a new track after station passage.
Holding
Choose the right entry (direct, teardrop, parallel) and fly the hold.
Reversal procedures
45°/180° and 80°/260° procedure turns, and the base turn.
DME arc
Join the arc at the right moment and hold the distance until the final radial.
ILS approach
Radar vectors, localizer and glideslope capture, stabilised at the DA.
VOR DME approach
Continuous descent using the distance/altitude table down to the MDA.
NDB approach
Beacon at the FAF, RMI only, timing and rate of descent.
Going further
- Calm, moderate or strong wind, from a random direction.
- Free flight to place the aircraft anywhere and watch the HSI, RMI and DME react.
- Stars and a best score per exercise to track your progress.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a joystick?
No. The simulator is flown by touch on phones and tablets, or with keyboard and mouse on a computer.
Is it a full flight simulator?
No: it's a procedures and instrument-reading trainer, designed to prepare for the simulator assessment and the IFR questions in interviews.
